IS THIS NORMAL?

IS THIS NORMAL?

Is it normal to resent being a stay-at-home mom?
Society often judges stay-at-home moms with harsh judgments. Being a stay-at-home mom is a full-time job unlike what many think.

It's easy to feel stressed and underappreciated as a stay-at-home mom, as your spouse may be inclined to say "But you're home all day" or "I'm too tired from work".

Moreover, stay-at-home moms often find themselves neglecting their needs socially, emotionally and physically.

This, in turn, can lead to resentment. Catering to everyone's needs but your own can be dangerous to your self-esteem and wellbeing.

The solution is quite simple: recruit help. Sit your spouse down and discuss responsibilities and chores. Take time off each day to exercise and/or to see friends.

WHEN TO BE CONCERNED
If you're having thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, you must consult with pediatrician immediately. Depression affects many mothers around the world and needs to be addressed as soon as symptoms surface.

TIPS & GUIDELINES

  • Seek the help and support of family and friends.
  • Take time off to exercise.
  • Avoid isolating yourself; keep your friendships alive.
  • Find some time for yourself to enjoy your hobbies or passions.
